OK, so it's my last one from Spain... how sad.

So I sat there typing that last email and about 10 minutes later our guys decided they'd come up to Madrid for the night to see us. We were so excited, but decided to spend some time with the group we'd alienated ourselves from for a bit, so karaoke it was. (I'm your private dancer, a dancer for money... haha, the funniest song you could ever do for karaoke) That, or "A Whole New World" in Spanish.

Our friends got there around 2 am and off we went to a pretty fun club named Tequila. Didn't have tequila there, but we stayed for a good bit, until about 6 am. It was fun, but I was having a little bit of trouble with guys I didn't know coming up and invading my space or whatnot and one actually tried talking to me so his friend could steal the drink I just ordered. I was like, oh no no no, and grabbed it from his hand. Then Villa came over and stood like a terrifying presence and the guys left me alone.

But on Saturday morning Sarah and I were woken up by Luis and Villa at 8 am. Ouch. We told them to go away and let us sleep. So they came back at 2 and it was time to hit the bars for breakfast and beers. We had to leave the bar by 3'30 so that we could make it to the Museo Reina Sofia, so we said our goodbyes and hopped a taxi. Megan was so sad. She was crying and sobbing "Why!????" and we contemplated hopping a train to Sevilla to meet the guys there for the concert, the only thing that stopped us was the lack of sufficient funding.

So they said they'd call us at 6'30 to let us know they'd arrived safely. So at 6'30 we got a call from Luis saying he'd left his wallet in the room and that they had left the door open as well and to go get it. Weird, in hindsight, but Megan went up anyway and sure enough our guys were there... they just couldn't leave us! (Or Megan's tears worked wonders!)

But as we'd already bought our tickets to see the musical "Mama Mia" they had to occupy themselves for a couple of hours. "Mama Mia" was so cool... and it was neat to watch it in Spanish, and hear them sing the songs... because they're Abba songs, but they were also done in Spanish. The translations weren't equal at all, so it was interesting to see how the story changed a little.... or at least the song wording.

After the show we had made them all late to get into this disco for free... yeah, blame it on the Americans... but we got in anyway and hung out for a bit before going back to Tequila. I was starting to crash by this time and around 7 we headed back to the hotel... or at least the girls did.... and it was just in time for breakfast where we made tired and semi drunken fools of ourselves.

Then later that day we went out to tapear algo and then tomar algo to celebrate our goodbyes. Best tapas ever mind you. And the bar was so fun. The girls sang stupid meaningless songs to the guys, and then the guys sang songs about missing us and not wanting us to go... but then we started dancing and made friends with a traveling woman who said we reminded her of when she was our age... it was fun.

We went back to the hotel... hung around... and then it was time to say goodbye. Beni gave us each a pair of his awesome calcetines (socks). It was really sad, and I don't think I've cried like that ever... or in a long time... so we went to reminisce at the Tapa Bar and then packed and went to sleep.

The morning was the day of travel. Oof. And after an 8 hour plane ride without a TV, that ran out of coke, that ran out of pasta for this vegetarian to eat, served ham and cheese sandwiches for snack, and sat for a good hour waiting to take off... and after a 3 hour layover in Philadelphia... and after another 2 hour flight to Charleston... and hanging around Charleston for a couple of hours... and a three hour drive home to Charlotte... it is offically 9'30 am (Spanish, and my time) and 3'30 here. Tired? You betcha.

Just wanted to say thanks to all of you guys for the emails and I can't wait to see you soon... Tomorrow?

Love yas!
Aubrey
