So I was over at alliancesjr and tweelore's place earlier today, and Kevin mentioned that a friend of his mailed them a bunch of chocolates all the way from freaking Australia. And the package including this especially striking confection.

North Carolina is tends to be seen as  fairly conservative state. And, for some strange reason, conservatives tend to hate public transportation. I've never been able to understand it.... Some background, if you're curious.

Back in the mid-20th century (March 1940 to be more precise), George Orwell wrote an insightful essay on whether or not Charles Dickens had socialist tendencies and, if not, what did he believe in. This essay made me feel both awed and illiterate (or, at least, under-educated). No joke.

Over the past seven decades, there have been lots of gimmick superhero comic books, and most of them are pretty odd. But I don't think there's ever been a superhero comic book based around knitting.

Knitting... I still can't get over it.
