A Chicago Sun-Times beggar

You usually see him on any weekday at the northeast corner of Dearborn and Randolph. During the first half of the day, he sells copies of Chicago Sun-Times. In the afternoons, he sits down in that corner on the crate, begging for change.

I bought more Sun-Times copies than I would ever normally by because I feel sorry for him.

(Sad to say, this isn't the only case like this. Back in 2017, Northwest Side Press reported that the seemingly abandoned newspaper shack in Jefferson Park, near the three-way Milwaukee/Foster/Central intersection wasn't actually abandoned - a veteran named Anthony Johnson has been using it to sell Chicago Tribune and Sunday Sun-Times on Sundays. Turned out it was his only source of income, which usually mean he didn't have enough money to even pay for the cheapest of motel rooms for the night. Once the story broke, the community rallied to help Johnson. But ti's still a rather sad state of affairs).
