My home Internet is fine - but for how long?

On Monday, the Comcast technician stopped by. Turned out that the modem broke. The good news is that he simply replaced it with a new modem, free of charge.

The bad news? When I asked why it broke, he pretty much shrugged and said that he didn't know.

"Sometimes, it just breaks."

So, apparently, this sort of thing is just expected. And, theoretically, it could break again. Any time.

The kicker? My mom had been a Comcast customer for well over a decade now, and she seldom had any problems. But, for some reason, things have been going wrong for me right from the get go.

I still want to figure out if I can do the whole "billing Comcast for coffee/tea shop expenses" thing.
