The Chicago Tribune teamed up with
Mash (its sister newspaper that targets Chicago high school students), the
TrueStar teen magazine and the
Chicago Bureau (a non-profit online news and social issues project) to put together something pretty impressive - a multimedia project where Chicago public school kids talk about dealing with violence in their lives.
We've seen plenty of stories where we see kids reacting to losing friends, parents, loved ones. But usually, they capture what happens right after the incident. Not many stories asked - what happens weeks, months and years later.
I've embedded what's basically a trailer for the project. You can watch and read the whole thing
at this link.
