My Nieces were on The Daily Show with John Stewart last night!!
The rabbi that John Oliver interviews for this segment is my Brother's Rabbi and both his daughters appear at the end of the segment singing with a bunch of kids for John Oliver. They are the sitting in the back row - the second and third girls in. Supposedly they filmed most of the morning with John Oliver - playing "John Stewart" (parody)versions of traditional Jewish games but I guess most of their closeup stuff ended up being edited out.
My Sister-In-law was a giddy fan girl when she called to tell me about their day(she's a die hard Stewart show fan). She said she nearly fainted with joy to meet John Oliver and explained that she said the most inane things to him but she didn't care because IT WAS JOHN OLIVER (I'm quoting her). I laughed but then I realized I'd probably be incoherent if i walked into a room and saw Jensen Ackles sitting there so I can understand the fan girl delight.
And on top of that it was a very funny well done segment with a very disturbing look at religious prejudices in Texas.
