The Lord of the Rings
1) I was assigned to read the Hobbit in 5th grade. I still remember the model hobbit hole I built for my project. But I didn't really get into fandom until I saw the trailer for the first movie. It took my breath away.
2) I don't really hang out in fandom much anymore. I used to read a ton of fic and haunt the communities for Karl Urban and Sean Bean. But I really have kind of left it behind
3) I love the fellowship of the Rings - the movie. I've watched it dozens of times and still cry when Boromir dies
4) Never have actually participated in the fandom
5) I think the fandom is a little too full of Mary Sue's, but otherwise is pretty good as it is.
CSI: NY
1) I liked CSI:Vegas but I hated CSI:Miami so I didn't start watching CSI:NY right away. But there were reruns on the weekend so I gave it a try. I was a fan of Gary Sinise and now I like NY better than Vegas - in fact I don't even watch Vegas any more
2) Not really in fandom. I just like the show and will watch it until it's cancelled
3) I don't really know the episode names. I actually liked that they crippled Danny - I just wish they'd kept him in the wheel chair longer. I loved when they added AJ Buckley. He was a ghostfacer on Supernatural and someday I may write the story about how Adam and Ed Zeddmore are related.
4) Never written in the fandom but I have read a few of SPN/CSY:NY crossovers
5) I'd like to see more crossovers but otherwise I'm good
Star Trek (all series): This one got a little long winded as I dissect all the series.
1) I remember watching the original show with my mom when it was in reruns in the early 70's. I had every book I could find on the show, read those cheesy novelization (the precursor to fanfic as it turns out) and I could name all TOS episodes. In college it was a bit of a drinking game: my friends were always trying to stump me. So yeah, A big trekkie from way back though I never went to a convention or dressed up. As for the other shows a quick run down:
a. I loved Next gen and I still consider myself a Riker girl
b. Deep Space nine was ok but I never was a real fangirl about it
c. I hated - hated Voyager.and Enterprise was just bad story telling - never watch either all that much
d. Movies: I LOVE THE REBOOT!!!!! Casting Karl Urban (remember him form LotR above) made any doubts I had about seeing it disappear. GREAT! GREAT movie.
2) It was technically my first fandom and just when I seem to lose interest in it they suck me back in. (See d. above) So after 35 years, I still call myself a Trekkie
3) From TOS it has to be "The Trouble with Tribbles" I squeed like a mad fangirl during the new movie when I spotted one on Scotty's work station.
a. From Next Gen: 'Yesterday's Enterprise' - The whole time travel conundrum is always a favorite trope of mine.\ 'Best of Both Worlds' when Picard is capture by the Borg. And pretty much all the Q episodes - especially 'Tapestry'.
b. I never watch DS9, Voy or Enterprise enough to pick a favorite but I was pissed when I heard that they'd killed Trip - he was the only decent character on Enterprise and I admit I did watch a few episodes just for him (Until my eyes started bleeding from the stupid story lines)
c. Movies in order of preference - it's just easier that way
i. Star trek XI - the reboot
ii. Wrath of Kahn
iii. First Contact
iv. The Voyage home - Which I watched recently and it hasn't held up well, but I still love it
v. The rest are pretty much unwatchable
4) Nope. I have read some reboot fic. I enjoyed it, but there is too much slash and not enough crossovers and I'm picky
5) If you haven't seen the new movie you should - it's a fantastic way to bring newbies into the fandom without all the canon baggage of 40 years of TV shows and movies.
