i haz a job

Title says most of it. Pay's right for my education level (therefore pretty good), and the work should be super-interesting. There is that whole working-with-5-middle-aged-guys thing, but in the end that's not really so different than most situations. I'd end up working with the same couple people anywhere I am, and I probably have more social contacts than I can keep up with already. So, turns out to be an irrelevant negative. Oh, and turns out they're completely flex-time, which is badass for a young, unfamilied professional such as myself. If I lag behind in efficiency or time put in during the working day, I can make it up whenever I want.

I guess the biggest complaint I can levy is that its location is not especially awesome. Not bad at all, and still close enough to town to make getting together about as easy as it was before. But given my cranky taste in apartments and predilection against commuting, I have a certain can't-get-there-from-here issue. For example, I'm about the same distance from the fields I play pickup frisbee on as I am from the people who carpool in from the north. So I've added a bunch of miles there, but that's only twice a week or so. All in all, though, that's really not an issue. Austin is compact; it's not like Houston, where living in the same "city" can mean being 50 miles apart through nasty traffic. My Big Commutes will be more like 8 miles. I guess I'm getting spoiled.
