Today was the exhibit at the Fine Arts Gallery on Michigan. It was really great. Margy guilt-tripped me the entire time because I brought chips instead of samosas like I said I would. My painting of my building was front and center at the exhibit. I was really excited. Margy let me explain my painting to everyone. One guy from the mosaic group caught on to the binary in the background. I was really surprised that anyone even knew what binary was.

I explained how the structure of the building was similar to the structure of binary, because both are powerful forms of communication, structure, and order. It's also a juxtaposition of old against new structure and order. Margy was kind of showing me off to everyone else, but I didn't mind. I knew she was impressed with me, and so was the other group. I'm really happy about how the exhibit went.

During the exhibit I got to talk with Jeanette about school, art, and my future. I don't really know what I'm more passionate about yet. I like computers, art, and writing. I don't know how I'm going to be able to do all three, or worse yet - if there are yet more unhidden passions that I have. I don't know what I'm going to do in the future yet. Jeanette talked about how art was possible for me if I ever wanted to go into it. She reassured me that family support while nice, isn't always necessary to pursue a career in your choice of field. I think I subtly told her that she inspired me, because she's a great artist..

I talked with Margy a lot about how I'm going to miss her and everyone else. She said this is one of the best summers that she's had. I talked with her about her school, The Chicago Academy of the Arts. I was really surprised that she talked about how her niece was thinking about going to Whitney Young's Academic Center. I told Margy that it would be a great idea. Margy told me that sometimes the best workers were the ones that were picked last - and she gestured towards Nordon, Paldon, and myself. I was surprised. I asked her whether she found my name on her list, and she answered yes. She picked me because she could pronounce my name and because I went to Northside. I told her that dad didn't think anyone would hire me. She said to tell him that I was a great worker, and that I've been working hard all summer.

I nearly fell asleep on the bus. I closed my eyes and listened to the voices and the sounds and the cellphones and all the noise .. and I thought..

Summer's almost gone.
