Why does the local/evening news exist? Do we really need to know, on a daily basis, who got killed/shot/raped/mugged/hanged/run over/gang-banged/blown up? Do we really need to know the "murder rate"? How about substitute that for "how many people were born" rate? Why is everything, as reported by the media, have to have a negative feel to it? Is this the only thing that people are interested in? Is there some rule to keep the public paranoid, depressed, angry, irritable, etc.?
There is a need to be informed, yes, but the top stories always seem to include the likes of a shooting, etc ... I DON'T CARE! The Earth is a neat place. Check it out. There's lots to see. Don't let the media bring you down and tell you that everything is bleak and shitty. Fuck that. Live life. Don't fear it.
