So, yeah, I haven't been paticularly good about updating lately. I'm still loving working with Alex and Wolverton. Occasionally I wonder if I don't actually belong in the Hamill lab, since they're all somewhat absent-minded random people like myself, but then again, that would mean working with worms instead of happy little Arabidopsi. My research has been going pretty well. The image analysis is working as well as can be expected for such a picky program and my Confocal images are pretty sweet (Did you know the Confocal microscope costs $120,000? It's probably second only to the SEM and maybe one or two other things in cost and it's just lying around in one of the downstairs rooms, chilling)
Last night, Marie, Biffy, Julie, went down to the Kappa house and did some organizing/recruitment planning/random futzing around, which probably sounds a bit dull, but was, in reality kinda crazy. You never know what your going to find when you look in the nooks and crannies of the Kappa house (people [Marie] have speculated that there is pirate treasure in the basement). I can't wait for recruitment. Our theme this year is going to be Kappas of the Caribbean (like "Pirates of the Caribbean," except Kappa style) and you know with Marie planning it it's going to be crazy... we're already thinking about making a treasure chest and a pirate ship and have been combing over the house for everything shiny to add to the "treasure"
