Nathan Ford picked his way through the crime scene. It looked like a wreck, but Nate knew that something was seriously damaged. There might be some water damage and some staining from the orange dye in the shaving cream, but it wasn’t direct damage. There was only one thing missing in all of this: a large diamond.
Everything led up to one person, and she had been bored. Parker was good enough to slip in and out without ever being noticed or leaving a trace. The only time she ever let people notice her was when she was bored, and things usually ended up in a disaster.
“She booby trapped the room before you noticed her,” Nate commented.
“Yes sir,” one of the security guards replied. “We could hardly recognize the place after she got through with it. It was like a maze.”
“She’s good at that,” Nate muttered. He glanced around the room once more before his gaze landed on antoehr one of the security guards. “She’s able to turn anything into a maze, right, Parker?”
“Who, me?” the security guard blinked innocently.
“Yes, you.” Nate grinned as he meandered over to her. “The shaving cream was a nice touch, but you’ve got some on your hair.”
“Oh, fudge,” the young thief called out. She leaped up before anyone could react and was in the air ducts when the security guard next to her finally moved.
“Figure out where that leads and see if you can catch her,” Nate ordered before he turned back to the room. Now he just had to find the correct pathway in the maze to get to where Parker hid the ‘missing’ diamond.
