You Will Know ...

I was in the desert with the last two dozen remaining
Mib Khan clones, imbibing alcohol of questionable legality (I questioned whether or not it was legal, and the clones all chorused "Nope!") and discussing rumors and news of the
USS Murgatroid.A lone sehlat, nearly invisible in the dark among some rocks, watched the group of humanoid creatures in the near distance. He was careful to stay downwind, so that his scent was not detected. He had found this pack of creatures before, when their numbers were large; but every time he had visited since then, their numbers were smaller and smaller. Now, he thought he might be able to kill and carry one away without the remainder being able to stop him. Most of them smelled odd; only one smelled like proper food.
Suddenly, the clones all reacted with surprise. "We've been cut off somehow," one explained to me. "Something must have happened to the Murgatroid…"With the ship's systems down, none of the Khan clones on the Murgatroid were sending or receiving memory updates. They could have easily switched to their backup systems, but they were rather busy tending the crew for the moment.
The Khans all ignored me (and the remaining alcohol) as they grabbed their tricorders and started running tests and diagnostics to make sure the problem wasn't at their end, and trying to re-establish contact with the clones on the Murgatroid. There was nothing I could do to assist, so I picked up a half-full bottle and stepped away, to keep from distracting them. The sehlat watched as the animals became confused, and saw the one who smelled like proper food step away from the rest of the pack. It was time to capture food and bring it back to its lair. Silently on the sand, the sehlat began to charge towards its victim.
As I turned to find a dune to relieve myself behind, I saw a large adult sehlat charging towards me…
