With Lothar
in the lead, and a series of Lothar-and-Storvik-shaped holes behind us, we dropped through three floors into the high-security sublevels of Starfleet's headquarters building. We then proceeded to search for
Janeway and her
torture and laboratory facilities. Communications were currently unjammed, so Khan was able to
monitor our progress; but all sensors appear to be inoperative below the ground level -- no doubt to keep Starfleet from discovering exactly what she has down here, and the truth about
our escape.
We located the room in which I was
originally imprisoned and tortured, and found Janeway. She was at a computer console, apparently making backup copies of her files onto isolinear chips -- obviously, a precursor to flight. She saw us and called out, "Computer! Initiate self-destruct sequence Gamma Pi Rho Kill The Bastards Alpha Four!" She then grabbed her chips and darted out the opposite door, cackling a clichéd evil villainess-esque laugh.
Lothar ran after her, while I went to the computer to see what she had done. Her command had initiated a program to wipe out all of her files -- which I was able to deactivate, preserving almost 63% of them for evidence -- and sent a signal to four bombs installed in various parts of the building. The bombs, once they received the signal, began a countdown; and there was no failsafe deactivation code. They would all have to be disarmed manually, or else the entire building would be destroyed -- along with all of the people in it. I was able to trace the signal and determine the location of the bombs, but there were more than I would be able to handle in the time alloted. I sent Doctor Khan (on Surak's Razor) the co-ordinates of the bombs over my
subdermal communicator, and asked him to beam them into space.
The last thing I did on the computer was to activate the building's emergency evacuation alarms, instructing all personnel to leave the building immediately. I then set off in pursuit of Janeway and Lothar.
