stupid mtv shows...
so, for some reason i got pulled into an lengthy conversation about eric nies yesterday. remember eric nies? or nyes? or some such. he was on the first Real World, and then MTV was all "hey, this guy is pretty good looking. maybe we should give him his own show!"
and so The Real World and MTV's The Grind became terribly and permanently joined in my brain. of course, the real world is still going on (i think) so the kids of today are fairly knowledgeable about it. so i got pulled into this conversation about the real world and the people on it and what they did after the show was over and i was all "well, there was that one dude who was on the grind."
*blank stares*
"you know? the grind? where you were supposed to be entertained for a half hour by watching people dance badly to bad club music?"
*blank, faintly worried, stares*
"the guy from the first real world hosted it? nothing?"
and then someone said "you mean Puck?"
at that point i realized that this was not a conversation i wanted to be a part of. in fact... these were people i really didn't want to talk to at all.
so i said "yes. yes, i mean puck." then i walked away, shaking my head and muttering to myself.
