state of the toe, books, textbooks and the sequel

My pinkie toe is still hurting from yesterday's judo practice. I don't think I broke it but since it cracked I think some cartilage bones are in the wrong place or something. It all sounds pretty disgusting but, nothing to worry about, I'm an ex-ballerina, I've felt worse. Blisters before a big recital on pointe shoes, now that's a bitch and yet I toughed it. Me strong ;) We've established I'm falling apart anyway. At nearly 22 :( But hehe I take comfort in the wise words in my icon *nods* ;D

I got Daring the Highlander from Laurin Wittig in the mail Friday, and started it yesterday. Nothing omg-amazing, but it's a nice little story. It does its purpose to tell a tale of lurve. It's the sequel to Charming the Shrew and Ailig, the youngest brother, comes back to his father (chief of the Leod clan) alone after his older brothers plot against the Bruce and are either roped into servitude in the army after it's found out, or die... I don't remember how the eldest died but it was all very climactic and the hero from the previous book did it I think. Right in front of the king? Hmm, possibly. Anyway. So he comes back with orders from the Bruce to take over his father to avoid any more treason, and the father, in true Highland style, goes all "oi we vote for our chiefs here bitch please, I don't care about some Lowland-ass-kissing king, we follow no one aye?" So now the young one has to ~prove~ himself and he convinces some recently widowed lass he likes to help out in the kitchens because the chief apparently never comes out of his chambers anymore. I suspect he has Alzheimer's. Mood swings, forgetfulness, unwilling to move about... symptoms I saw in my grandpa when his condition was still developing. We'll see...

I have about a quarter left of Highlander Unmasked. Still like it. Dude just pretended to some court dandy or some such that he'd proposed to the female lead to take over her lands, because he still thinks he's not worthy of her (humble blah blah) and besides he's got a super seekrit mission from his brother to drive out the Fife Adventurers away from Skye so they don't settle and drive them out of their lands. She's pissed off she thought he liked her. Now she's trying to convince herself to fall out of love. Dum dee dum...

As for Anansi Boys... guilty as charged. Haven't read it in weeks. Still trying to get used to the format but otherwise the story's interesting. I want the dude to find out he's like Spider. I really dig his brother! Totally an asshole and yet I don't think he notices it? Or maybe he's totally conscious and just trying to shake dude's life around and make him appreciate what's he's got and just live a little more vicariously. I dunno, I really like Spider despite his asshole life-stealing ways. And now dude's in much doo-doo with the law eeeeek how will Spider get him out of that one?

Just mooched Drop Dead Gorgeous and To Die For by Linda Howard. I can't remember which one's the sequel to which but I'm looking forward to them. Howard's excellent with romantic suspense -- as for straight romance *GAGS at the memory of Almost Perfect* Shit that was a train wreck. Why won't anyone mooch it back from me? *giggle* I'm also getting Into the Dark (Bodyguard series) by Cindy Gerard and umm, I'm ~supposed~ to get Watch Me (Last Stand series) by Brenda Novak. I've heard good things about the former and I read Trust Me by Novak and loved it. Long live the romantic suspense :D

I'm currently cleaning out a lot of my old textbooks from high school that I'd left in my old bedroom's closet... because mum has always been anal about keeping stuff so I was like "okay... fine" even though I haven't needed to check back into my Math, Chem and Physics stuff in a while (hi, Fine Arts doesn't require ~brains~ which is a sad thing because I'm a smart one, or at least WAS). Although it was awesome seeing how much of a geek I was :) Gosh, I miss algebra... Anyway. Almost done. I still have to move some empty boxes and binders to the basement but otherwise yep, done :D And whaddayaknow... remember I was complaining about a lack of recycled paper to write fic on? Not so anymore. My paper box is full! 'Course, there's a few lined sheets in there and we all know I can't write worth shit on that. IDK, there's some kind of imagination blockage in my brain when I see lines lol.

So... is it spoiler time? Yes, I believe it is!

"I don't know what to do!" Muffy blubbered into the phone.

"Are you sure?" Somehow Emma had difficulty believing Muffy's high tale, but the genuine horror in her friend's voice gave it all credibility as far as Emma was concerned. She just needed confirmation that it wasn't just her overreacting as she sometimes did.

"I don't know!"

"Did you call the cops?"

Muffy's desperate shriek rang in Emma's ear long after it ended. "No! Don't call them, Emma, it's so embarrassing."

Emma rubbed her face. Muffy could be such a drama queen, and that was saying something.

Uh oh... What did Muffy do now? Thoughts? I mean, I know what's going on but... *wriggles eyebrows* it's so fun to read your speculations.

Oh. Question: Do we know Muffy's real name? I refuse to believe that's her birthname (what were her parents on if such is the case?) so if anyone has any ideas... I'm kind of just hitting a wall repeatedly with "Muffy" running around in my mind, and then giggling like an idiot. And do we know Emma's last name? I'll have to watch 2x09 again anyway, but if anyone knows right off the bat, let me know!

spoilers, fic: behold man, health, writing, books, school
