In the north of China, there is a water drought. Why? Because the Chinese government is diverting all its water supplies toward Beijing. No... comment, it's been said before I'm sure. I just read about that, though, and... yeah. No comment. Water can't be replaced by money, people ( Read more... )

Awhile back I saw a preview for a documentary on water in the world, and how a small group of corporations "own" significant water resources.

I think there's going to be a water war some year.

Oh, I read a bit about riots in Montreal. Any of that close to you?

Seeing as cars may be powered by hydrogen in the future, I can see that happening actually.

No, I'm in the West, that one was in the North. A lot of people blame the police for racist treatment, but the truth is that borough's pretty rough so who knows really.

Don't get me started on a hydrogen!

Glad it wasn't in your neighborhood. :)

:) I did like Physics/Chemistry.

My little island's considerably "whiter" in population, but it's not free of gangs either. And the worst is, I probably went to high school with a good many of them.

Well, I was going to rant on the general unsuitableness of hydrogen as a fuel replacement. It has its applications, certainly, but overall, unless some near magic process is found, it takes way too much energy to produce. Maybe if wind/solar/hydro/wave power drive the cost of energy down enough hydrogen will be more practical. But, today, it's not good to attempt to switch the world to hydrogen vehicles!

Gangs are def not cool.

I didn't mean near-future, rest assured. So far, electricity seems like the next best thing in terms of power (def not as powerful as gas, though, granted) and cost. Ever heard of the EV1? Or the Who Killed the Electric Car? documentary? I was shaking in fury after watching it. Grr.
