One of my New Year Resolutions was to review any movies I watched and books I read on my LJ, and last week I watched The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. What I have to say is... wow.
I haven't watched Mickey Rourke's movie, but he must be wonderful in it to beat Brad Pitt in the Golden Globes. I never, ever saw him acting like that. Cate Blanchett is also superb, but that's something I came to expect from her. I never expected to see Brad Pitt this intense, this wonderfully sad and happy and so damn real. He just rocks.
The story, for those of you who haven't watched the movie yet (what are you waiting for?) is about this Benjamin Button, played by Brad Pitt, who is born old and keeps getting younger as time passes. The movie is long, really long, but I didn't notice. I couldn't stop staring at the screen, at Benjamin Button's incredible life, and the people he meets in his journey.
I am a bit of a crybaby when it comes to movies (the good ones, at least), and in this one I actually had to get my Kleenex. But the movie doesn't live you bitter, or even sad in the end. It's the opposite - it leaves you hopeful, grateful, and wanting to find love... honestly, it should win every award possible.
So, this one wins the five stars.
P.S.: the make-up is amazing, too.
