This weekend was absolutely wonderful!! For those that didn't know, Coy's twin brother, Gary got married in Austin. His wife is a great person and they compliment each other very nicely. Now let me start out with Thursday since a lot of things started then.
Thursday, Coy and I had a few things to get done before the wedding. We needed to get the oil changed in his car, buy a few minor things at the mall (well I did mainly), get my Bluetooth and new phone linked together (needed AT&T's help cause I'm stupid lol), get some batting practice in with Joe, pick up Coy's tux, wrap the presents, and pack our bags. Well after an IHOP breakfast and coming back from the mall, I put the window down in my car since it was gorgeous outside. As luck would have it, I couldn't put the window back up. So we picked his car up and both drove to Goodyear to get the window fixed. They said it was the motor and had to be replaced. After several hours, I was able to get my car (and sadly pay nearly $300 for the fix). Coy started to drive away and I wanted to put my window down. I clicked the button to put it back up and it wouldn't work. WTF?!? I go back into the parking lot (cause I didn't really leave) and started getting pissed off. Coy turned around and we realized the car wasn't fixed!! I go inside and told them it still didn't work, and they said that apparently the key pad itself was old and I had to press really hard on the button to make it work.
That leaves a few questions: (1) How can I tell that it wasn't just the key pad the whole entire time?? (2) Why wasn't this fixed??? (3) Say the pad doesn't get fixed. I'd have one heck of a time trying to get into my apartment complex when I roll the window down if it rained.
So I'm ready to pitch a fit because at this point it's 5:30pm, place closes at 6pm and we still had to get the tux before 7pm. They called in the part and said they'll fix it and not charge me for the labor (so it's only another $200). Fine, just get it done. I was told it would be ready by 7pm. They called at 6:15pm when we just arrived at the tux place and said the car was fixed. WTF?!?! I told them I couldn't be there again until 7pm. I said that from the start before I left!!!! Fine. We did what we had to for the day and decided to get the car at 7am Friday morning.
I get the car Friday and everything works. Instead of leaving the apartment at 8am, it was more like leaving Houston at 9am. We got to the hotel around the same time as Mr. Larry, Coy's dad. After lounging in our room, which was pretty cool, we got dressed and headed out to the park for the crawfish boil, which was the rehearsal dinner. We set up as much as we could, I got to hold a live crawfish, then Coy and his family went to the church while a few of us stayed behind to fix everything else up. They eventually came back but it turned out we needed more ice for the drink tub, so Coy and I ran out to Randalls to pick up some more ice. That was his first trip, my second. We got back and was told get more beer! Alright, we got more ice, beer, and boxed zinfandel because Wendy's mom wanted some (not sure why really since it's a picnic of some sort on a hot day).
We started dancing, eating, and having a good time. Coy's dad told everyone during his "little" thank you speech that this could've been a dual ceremony, but we wanted my parents in town. Haha I love Mr. Larry!! But yeah, the party continued on until 8pm. Then trouble hit. Coy and I were socializing when we saw lightning off in the distance. We knew there would be severe weather that day, so he called his buddy Drew while I called Matt. Around 8:30pm, we got word that the storm was heading our way. We spent 30 minutes trying to pack everything up while the band still played. The rain didn't hit until 9pm when just about everything was packed up and people were heading to their cars. It wasn't too heavy until a few moments later. Coy and I got 5-10 minutes away when we had to pull off. We waited 45 minutes (at least) for the storm to die down. We had heavy rain, flooding, so much lightning that I got a headache from it constantly going bright then dark outside. At one point we had hail! Oy! Thank goodness for GPS helping us get back to the hotel late at night. We pretty much knew what roads to travel, but GPS does come in handy. We got back a little before a few other people got in. Obviously we helped them put some supplies back inside. But I'll tell you what. We saw some awesome lightning, mostly anvil crawlers, that night.
The wedding was very nice. It was actually fairly short for being in a church. I got to sit in the second pew since Mr. Larry, Coy, his 2 brother-in-laws, both nephews, and his niece were on the altar. Miss Peggy (his mom) and Maw Maw Foreman (grandma) were in the first pew. I didn't get too many pictures since there was a lot of back-lighting, but it did turn out to be nice. The reception was such a blast. The location was interesting, but very scenic. I got a little teary eyed during the first dance because it was a rehearsed dance routine to a Joanie Mitchell song (which I don't like her music but oh well). A lot of people were teary eyed from what I saw. After that they had a slide show of pictures of them as babies, then became pictures of just the two of them. That's something I want done at my wedding.
They started the music and I must've danced to almost all of the songs. I probably passed on a total of 10 songs maybe. I was dancing so much that people were going up to Coy to tell him how great of a dancer I was. I even had some people tell me that the next day! So everyone knows about the bouquet/garter toss at every wedding. Well, Coy dragged me up and no one else was going up. So his cousin's girlfriend joined me since we both agreed that if one went up, the other would as well. We all agreed that it would be like "Sex And The City" where the bouquet lands at our feet and no one attempts to catch it. Something like that happened, except the bouquet landed near no one, so the girlfriend pushed me forward and everyone else backed away at the same time. I WAS SET UP!!!! Coy went up for the garter toss and jokingly was shoving his dad to catch it. Go figure Gary threw the garter too far back. One guy was ready to reach down and grab it off the floor, but Coy dove through everyone and caught it. Hmmmmm I smell conspiracy in the air! At the end of the night, Gary and Wendy ran underneath our sparklers and drove off in a fancy old-fashioned white car, sorta like the end of "My Best Friend's Wedding".
We eventually fell asleep around midnight after the wedding and all. By 7am, we got the rudest wake up call. The fire alarm was going off while a thunderstorm was outside. Turns out lightning struck near the building and set the alarm off. That sucker was going off for maybe 20 minutes before it was turned off. Ugh! Since we were awake, we decided to peel the crawfish in the sink and pack them up in plastic bags. Got ready for the day, had breakfast, then drove out to Wendy's parent's house for a little brunch to wish the bride and groom off. It was something small. We mainly just talked with a lot of people, getting advice on relationships haha. Wendy's mom, Miss Colleen, said we can stay at their house the next time we're in town. Woohoo!! That's great since Wendy and Gary have cats and I'm highly allergic to cats. But we'll see what happens.
Overall, I had a great time. I loved Austin since it had the Texas weather but wasn't as muggy as Houston and it had hills like PA. It's a shame there aren't any weather jobs out there. It's also a shame Coy came back with strep throat. But at least it happened now rather than before the wedding. He was having a sore throat Thursday, but we didn't have time to see a doctor until today. But now he's doped up on meds. Well, time to get things together now that we're back from a wonderful vacation.
