Applying for Work

Aug 07, 2017 00:13

Gah. I *really* hate doing job application/resume stuff. It's so easy to lose hours in stressing and tweaking things and feeling like if I don't have everything exactly right then HORRIBLE THINGS will happen.

But I did it. Especially after seeing someone where I work be *incredibly rude* to a guy who was just trying to help by bringing us some stray kittens he'd found, I'm even more motivated to find something that's both a better fit for me, and where I don't feel like the people I'm working with are so negative. I'm applying for a Library Technician position at an organization where the former director of the UW-Parkside library is director. She responded to my Facebook post, sent me the listing, said she'd tell the hiring manager to watch for me, and asked for a copy of my resume. I'm trying not to get too excited at this prospect...but I'm pretty excited. I think being an an academic library again with good people would be really good for me.

When I finished, I treated myself to some custard from Andy's, a place just down the block that's been around for a long time and has tasty, tasty treats. Now I wait, and try to enjoy my weekend.
