A friend of mine once told me something that's been... on my mind today. You might remember him, although he's been gone for a while now-- Tallahassee? He was the Doctor's clone's warden.
Anyway. He told me to enjoy the little things. It's something I've been... remiss in doing here.
[He looks at one of the books and starts to put it away.]
I never had that problem back home. Enjoying the little things. [He smiles fondly, looking at another book before putting it away.]
I had a pair of King Cobras back home. Not in my lab, of course, but they... helped with some of my experiments. In their way.
See, I could assess the nanomites' functionality based on whether or not my subjects succumbed to the cobra's venom. [He chuckles softly.] Not that I performed that particular experiment often. It would be pretty impractical. [AND GI JOE VILLAINS ARE ALWAYS PRACTICAL.] It was mostly for a showy demonstration. The cobra strikes the subject, the nanomites do their work, and nobody dies.
[A little smile.] The moment that the cobra attacks is... something that really must be witnessed. Words don't do it justice. It's a swift, precise strike-- it happens in an instant, and then it's finished. In that one, beautiful moment, it injects a large quantity of venom capable of killing a full-grown elephant. Imagine how quickly it can kill a man.
[Yeah, yeah, some of you have heard that speech before. BUT THERE ARE NEW PEOPLE WHO HAVEN'T. Rex looks positively cheerful now as he puts another book away.]
Watching the cobra strike... That was a little thing I always enjoyed. I suppose I'll have to find some equivalent here.
