[The camera turns on to show a shot of a grassy clearing from behind some cover, where it captures the final moments of a fight between a t-rex and a triceratops in the distance. The triceratops puts up a valiant effort, but the t-rex ultimately wins and begins feeding. SO AWESOME. Rex-- the person, not the dinosaur-- keeps the camera on this scene for a bit, speaking in a hushed, reverent and TOTALLY EXCITED tone.]
This is incredible. To be able to-- no, to have the privilege to witness this! It's-- it's truly awe-inspiring.
[He turns his communicator so that it's facing him now. Rex just has the biggest grin on his face.]
The hunting, the-- the feeding strategies of the Tyrannosaurus Rex is an issue that's been hotly debated for decades-- I mean, practically since the discovery of the Tyrannosaurus. Was it a predator who, like many, had scavenging characteristics, or was it a pure scavenger? I never wanted to believe the scavenger theory was true. To think that such a magnificent creature, with so much power and potential could be anything less than the king of dinosaurs? It would've been a waste.
But this? This puts to bed the debates. [Turning the camera again for a few more moments of t-rex action.] Look at that. Truly an apex predator.
[AND BACK TO REX. He's speaking in a conversational tone now.] I remember going to museums as a kid, wondering what it could possibly be like to walk among these animals. I couldn't even concieve it, the thought that there once was muscle and skin and life in the fossils on display. That they might have walked on the same ground as I did.
[DREAMY SIGH. He's got a pretty dopey smile on his face.]
This is the best port. I wonder if I can bring an egg back... Or a compy... Just one wouldn't be too difficult to manage. Iago, if you find one--
[Twigs crack. There's a reptilian hissing sound. Rex glances to the side, then he loses the dreamy look and his eyes widen.]
Oh shit!
[SCRAMBLE SCRAMBLE THE CAMERA CLICKS OFF.]
[OOC: Anyone who's with him can just spam in the comments. IDK, I ASSUME HE OUTRAN WHATEVER THE DINO IS.]
