[Rex is tinkering with SPIDERBOT, which is currently deactivated for some repairs. This little creeper may eventually play a role in his attempted coup later. He's got video on so that his hands can be free to do some delicate rewiring work. For the most part, Rex is looking at the little robot's innards, with intermittent glances at the communicator.]
Graduation. Often touted as that which we inmates should... aspire to. The prospect of a future, [He waves a hand wielding a delicate tool.] whatever that may be... [There's a quiet, rough chuckle at the thought.] The carrot on a stick, which we must take in, ahhh... faith. [Looking at the camera now, smiling.] Because the Barge is so good at fostering faith. Isn't it? And what grand options some of us have. A life as a fugitive, forever atoning for the crimes committed before we saw the light... A world where everything we love is dead and gone... A world that doesn't exist at all in some cases. Or, of course, an illustrious life as a warden here on the Barge.
As for myself, my options appear to be to return home and serve my 'time' quietly or waltz right into a zombie apocalypse in search of the only people outside of my immediate family I've ever cared about. [Pause, thinking.] I think I would pick the latter, distasteful as the option is. Of course, not without some... [Motioning to his face.] Adjustments. Life dependent on a ventilator would be a very short one in a world of flesh eating maniacs. [Humorless laugh.] But I loved her. I would do it for her.
