Holiday Ficlet 1: Wash/Zoe

Dec 25, 2008 12:03

Here is the first of the holiday ficlets! For antiqueskies, who wanted "Wash/Zoe being cute with the toy dinosaurs."

Title: Travelers
Fandom/pairing: Firefly, Wash/Zoe
Word count: 272

It was autumn, but you couldn’t tell in the Black.

Zoe lay on her back with Wash propped on his side next to her, intently walking a green plastic triceratops up her arm. “Lo! Rolling hills ahead,” Wash growled, tilting the dinosaur’s head in the direction of Zoe’s stomach.

“Wash...” Zoe warned, lazily flicking the corner of the sheet at his head. It wound up half-draped over his face, and Zoe couldn’t help but smile.

“Curvaceous landscape?” He suggested meekly.

“C’mere.” She curled her fingers around the back of his neck and pulled him down slowly until his face was an inch from hers.

“Definitely a fertile landscape,” he murmured.

She chuckled lightly against his lips. “You helped.”

He shrugged modestly. “A little.” His hand slid up her thigh.

Her ankle hooked over his. “A little, huh?” she inquired, voice husky.

Wash grinned. “Well...” He kissed her.

Skin met prickling skin, fingers knotted together, and Wash detached his lips from Zoe’s and craned his head towards her mid-section. “Cover your ears,” he said sotto voce, “cover your ears, tiny Talullah-”

“No,” Zoe cut in.

“What?” Wash asked, all innocence.

“Darling mine, this discussion has been had. Twice.”

“You said you were going to mull.”

“The mulling has occurred. The answer remains as ever it was.”

“I married a stubborn woman.”

“You knew what you were getting into.”

“I did indeed.” He kissed her again. “A most precious jewel that catches the sunlight even when there is nary a ray to be caught, glowing with an unearthly iridescence.”

Zoe smiled lazily, resembling (in Wash’s private opinion) a satisfied wildcat. “Exactly, baby. Exactly.”
