On Monday evening, a couple of Thunderbirds writers found a plagiarist on fanfiction.net. She'd lifted two fairly obvious pieces from the fandom, changed the character names, and put them up as being her own (in the fandom of Suite Life of Zack and Cody). She even used the same title and summary for one of the stories. We notified the abuse team, and let her know she'd been caught. Her response was to take the fics down right away.
Problem is, I'm sure she's plagiarized other authors in other fandoms as well. Some of the stories she's posted have very different styles, and within a 24 hour period, she posted a first chapter or updated three or four fics. She also has another penname on ff.net but she hasn't updated there since earlier in the month. I've done what I could to try and find other stories she may have pilfered but even with keywords, it's like searching for a needle in a hay stack. I do know that she hasn't picked on any others in my fandom.
What do I do here? The writers who caught her out wrote her (as did others - including myself) to try and politely convince her how wrong plagiarism is and how devastating it can be. No one has heard anything back from her, not even a flame. But she seems to keep going. Is this something that needs more of a general shout out so that authors in other fandoms can give her a once over? Actually, I'm sure she'd love that; her hit count would skyrocket. What advice can you give me on how to handle this?
Thanks
Tikatu
ETA: One of the Thunderbirds fics she took down is now back up, and it's a pretty blatant copy. Links are in the thread and I've taken screen caps as well. She definitely is a plagiarist, and it'd be a great help to find out just who else she's been stealing fanfiction from.
