Sure, he's been landed with... more than unfortunate jobs in the past. Sure, he's not enjoyed most of them, but he'd done the best he could do to get them done. Effort seemed to be the most important, and effort is something the knight has in abundance, after all. If it's something that requires him to bear whatever horrid thing the Guide chose for him privately, that's fine.
But insulting others? That obviously involves bringing other people down, and that doesn't sit well with him.
But here he is anyway, in front of someone's door (yours?), knocking or ringing the doorbell or what have you to fulfill his daily quota.
