Hey, Marisa? Guess who's not a pony? Hint: It's the same person who has now let herself into your room.

She decides to be nice for once and not tease the witch on her pony condition. Instead, she brings gifts. A few books, some tea, and a few snacks.

And, she's wearing one of the outfits they had gotten on the shopping trip. One of the simpler ones, but still. Surprises abound.

Figures it'd be Patchouli that was pony-free, still Marisa's ears swiveled to the front at the sight of her.

The dress did look good on Patchy and it was so nice to see her wearing something that wasn't her purpler and pink potato sack shaped robes. If Patchy was wearing it just for her - which she sincerely doubted - it was appreciated. At least the trip wasn't a waste.

"Please tell me you brought fruit." A pause. "And I think it's sad how excited I'm suddenly over the thoughts of fruit and salads."

Part of the reason behind the dress was just to prove to Marisa that she could cope with change, but another was that she just liked it. Different than what she's used to, but it was rather comfortable.

"Unfortunately, no. I was not able to get fruit. They were mostly sold out by the time I got there due to the mass of... ponies suddenly demanding it. I did manage to get something else, however."

She sets a plate on the table next to the bed. They looked like baked goods. Baked goods for ponies. And sugar cubes. Be grateful, Marisa.

Marisa's ears drooped at the declaration that there wasn't any fruit. But then there it was - the fabled sugar cube. The witch pony gazed upon the sugar cube with awe for a few seconds before nabbing it with her teeth as if she was afraid it would disappear.

"Mmmmmm." Give her a moment of pony sugar ecstasy. "Thanks. The dress looks good, ze. Glad you remembered which stocking go with it."

Eep. She was kinda hoping the dress wouldn't be brought up... Nothing to be done about it, oh well.

"I... do like to think I can learn from past mistakes."

"I know you can. Just thought I'd let you know you did a good job, ze."

A pause. "So... the doctors told me something strange after I finally woke up. Something about me not having lost nearly as much blood as I should've. You were there, right? Any idea what happened?"

"I may have had something to do with that." Patchy answered simply. "I would rather not have you dead."

Marisa was very grateful and if Patchouli could read pony expressions, she'd see it. The with grins and gives a bit of a snort. "Careful, ze. People might start to think you actually like having me around instead of just saving an entire planet from destruction."

Patchy was by no means any good at reading expressions of any sort, but that one was obvious enough to hint at the gratitude.

"You and I both know that is not the case." ...Except it totally is. Annoying as the witch was it was nice to have someone intelligent to talk to. And someone that wasn't afraid to talk back. It was a love-hate relationship.

"Course not, ze." Love-hate indeed. "Any of the vampires end up as ponies? I really need to see flandre, but I don't think she's going to come down here to see me."

A pause. "She's really angry at me."

"I have not seen either Remilia or Flandre since the Drive started. However I will try to get Flandre to come in, though it is understandable why she is angry at you."

"I understand... but I also don't." Marisa blew her forelock up off her face. "Sometimes it's like she wants to put me in a guilded cage. I tried to explain to her that I had to fight Yuuka, but I don't think she understands." Marisa can't live her life completely safe. The witch didn't work that way.

"It was easier talking to Fai about Yuui. He's kinda feeling the same way, I guess. I mean, I understand why Yuui had to fight her which is why I didn't ask him to forfeit like I did Lemina and Matthew."

"I talked to Fai about Yuui, as well, but I am afraid I don't quite understand the reasoning of what Yuui has against her..." She doesn't usually pay attention to things the flower does. She just stays out of her way and doesn't get bothered.

"It's not so much that Yuui has something against her as much as... well. Think about it. He married Ran and he's not from Gensokyo," Marisa said after a moment of thought. "Yes, he's not human and pretty strong in his own right, but even you must have noticed how much stronger in general we are compared to the majority of the Thor."

She flicked her tail. "So here he is, not from Gensokyo, marrying into Gensokyo. And like anyone good man, he wants to protect his family, but he knows his comparative power level is a bit low. And there's Yuuka, the one of us most likely to attack someone, especially someone new, for her own pleasure. Maybe even doing so just because it'll ruin her target's happiness because she's as sadistic as she is." part of which was her and Reimu's fault ( ... )

Patchouli listened to the story with marginal interest. It didn't really change her opinion of the matter; more just reinforced it. Marisa was right; she didn't understand love at all, and in her eyes it was a mere excuse.

"So I was right to think him a fool. A fool with good intentions, but a fool nonetheless. The Yama is on this ship. Reimu is on this ship. As is Yukari, and yourself. ...And Flandre. I fear what she might have done should you have perished. The flower is kept well in check. I may have to drive that lesson into his head."

"Flandre would've destroyed the entire planet if I died. She told me so," Marisa replied. "I promised her I wouldn't die. She said if I broke my promise, she'd destroy the entire planet."

Marisa laid her head down. "At least I kept my promise."
