"It's not so much that Yuui has something against her as much as... well. Think about it. He married Ran and he's not from Gensokyo," Marisa said after a moment of thought. "Yes, he's not human and pretty strong in his own right, but even you must have noticed how much stronger in general we are compared to the majority of the Thor."

She flicked her tail. "So here he is, not from Gensokyo, marrying into Gensokyo. And like anyone good man, he wants to protect his family, but he knows his comparative power level is a bit low. And there's Yuuka, the one of us most likely to attack someone, especially someone new, for her own pleasure. Maybe even doing so just because it'll ruin her target's happiness because she's as sadistic as she is." part of which was her and Reimu's fault.

"So Yuui's worried he won't be able to protect his family from her. Forget that Yukari exists. Forget that Ran's powerful in her own right. This isn't about logic, Patchy; it's about love. And I know you don't really understand that, but I do. So Yuuka's become like a benchmark for him. She's the one he feels he has to worry about and he knows he's not strong enough to stop her if she goes after his family. So... he has to figure out where he sits in relation to her. Can't just ask her for a fight, ze. She'll kill him. But the ULMF was a way for him to fight her with, in theory, a safety net over him.

Basically, he had to prove something to himself and that's why I didn't try to stop him. And it's kinda sad that his loved ones weren't all supporting him. I know the feeling, even if my reason was far different than Yuui's."

Patchouli listened to the story with marginal interest. It didn't really change her opinion of the matter; more just reinforced it. Marisa was right; she didn't understand love at all, and in her eyes it was a mere excuse.

"So I was right to think him a fool. A fool with good intentions, but a fool nonetheless. The Yama is on this ship. Reimu is on this ship. As is Yukari, and yourself. ...And Flandre. I fear what she might have done should you have perished. The flower is kept well in check. I may have to drive that lesson into his head."

"Flandre would've destroyed the entire planet if I died. She told me so," Marisa replied. "I promised her I wouldn't die. She said if I broke my promise, she'd destroy the entire planet."

Marisa laid her head down. "At least I kept my promise."

"Not without help, but you did."

Not much else to say about that. Given the situation, everything went about as well as it could have. There's a moment of silence, and Patchy contemplates leaving her to rest, but decided she had something else to say.

"Promise me one more thing, then. You will go and spend time with Flandre once you are out. She has been depressed for a while due to your job."

She was well aware that she'd had help. And it wasn't just Patchouli slowing her bleeding but all the training she did. If she hadn't put herself through all that, she WOULD have died.

Marisa took her hat off and proceeded to try and scratch an itch behind her ear. This wasn't the easiest thing to do. Marisa was such a fail!pony.

"I've already made that promise, ze. Told her once I was healed I'd spend time with her, even spend the night if she wanted. Let her have some of my blood..." Stupid itch! "I ain't gonna be doing anything remotely interesting this next month anyways cause of my shoulder. Won't be able to work. Plenty of time to spend with Flandre."

Patchy nods. "Good. Perhaps that would get your girlfriend to relax, as well. She seemed to be somewhat uneasy." As was Patchy.

"I suppose I should leave you to rest, then. Shall you require anything else before I leave?"

"At least Karen understood and really helped me get through the month, making me take breaks... distracting me." Good thing Marisa was a pony or her face would've flushed at the end there. "She's still gonna be mad at me. Haven't told her yet..."

She then gave up on trying to get that itch and sighed. "Before you go can you scratch behind my right ear? I can't seem to manage..."

"I would be concerned about your relationship if she was not angry at you." While Patchy was no expert by any means on relationships, she knew enough to know that people who like you don't like you getting hurt. That was straightforward enough.

She contemplates leaving right there, but... if she's been nice to the witch this entire visit there's not much of a reason to end it on a sour note.. So she indulges her, stepping forward and taking care of the itch.

Marisa turned her head a bit into the scratch. "I know, but I'm not allowed to get any more scars. Karen said so. Both my big injuries are gonna leave scars."

Okay, she'll admit to herself at least that this was pretty adorable, despite the scars on the pony. She scratches for a while, extending it to the whole top of her head before she realizes what she was doing and stopped.

"Unsurprising. I trust you will be able to hold yourself to that for a while, so long as your arm is as it is."

Marisa was terribly disappointed with Patchouli stopped. She was enjoying that! Oh well.

"I ain't gonna be able to work this next month, ze. No worries there."

"Good. Take care, then."

She starts to head out, but before she gets out the door, she pauses, and, in a softer voice, "And... thank you, for the shopping trip."

Then she disappears before the witch has a chance to respond.
