Matthew can be found fussing around, sorting out little details. He wants his dragon to be happy with this, you see.

Meanwhile, the dragon in question is alternately following Matthew around like a lost puppy (Junrei) or stopping herself from devouring the entire cake before the other guests arrive (Shuko and Kanan). Either way, they all look pretty happy with the proceedings.

And Matthew seems to be satisfied with things, for now at least, so he decides to take a break.

"You think it'll go well?" He asks his dragon, drinking from a glass of orange juice. He really likes orange juice.

You and your orange juice. Shuko smiles reassuringly at his fussing. "Oh, I'm sure it will. You've put so much work into this for us. We really appreciate it."

[Suddenly, all the lights in the room go off. They don't seem to work now, no matter how hard you try. If you enjoy darkness, great! If not, well... sucks to be you.]

[What can be described as a large, twisted black and white face arrives shortly after, seeming to glide across the floor, although remaining completely on the ground. Everything seems to distort at his presence, with the dark becoming darker and inanimate objects suddenly seemingly to leer at you. The food has eyes, man! EYES]

[After all this, he simply regards the room with a smile.]

My~ What a lovely little party you have here~

[Matthew thinks this is pretty awesome. He also happens to be nocturnal, and has little trouble getting around. The goblin's eyes also start to glow, like little flash lights.

But this party has to go right! So he makes his way over.]

Oh, thank you! But, are you the one who caused the lights to go out, sir?

[He chuckles. What a pleasant little child.]

Why, yes~ I was indeed I who disrupted the light to this place. I find it quite a deal more comfortable... would you agree~?

Mmm, to be honest, I do. It feels really nice, but...

[Matthew scratches his nose, putting his words in order.]

The thing is, this is a party that is being thrown for someone who I don't think will agree. And, I really want this party to go well for her.

So, would you mind stopping?

[And he leans in a little conspiratorially.]

She might set you on fire if you don't, anyway.

... You know, for a minute there, the mun nearly thought "Hell Cake" when he read "not just any cake". But that has nothing to do with Elsis.

What does is that she shows up totally not late despite how late the post may come, with a package under one arm and a bag with two smaller packages of tea in her other hand. What's in the larger package? A pair of gold fabric flower hair decorations, with two ribbons on each one that stream down when they're worn.

Yeah, she pretty much resorted to her old stand-by of making something, since it's cheaper that way. But since it was at least gold colored and fairly nice-looking, hopefully it would suffice.

Also, just... Staring at the "party" before her. Since... she's not sure if this is better than what she knows or not.

Not even Matthew could make cake evil.

What he can do is scamper over-and he's wearing the fox suit she made for him. It's pretty awesome, so he thought it'd work well as a party costume.

"Miss Elsis! You made it!" And watch him flex both his arms. He's looking bright and chipper as usual.

Japan can. And did. ILLBLEED ftw. To be fair, though, Hellcake was a pretty cool guy... cake... thing.

Awesome and snazzy, so Elsis can't really blame him for using it as a party outfit. Thankfully, that snaps her out of the staring, and she nods to him with one of her small smiles.

"Yeah, looks that way. And speaking of looks, you seem better."

Matthew performs a little twirl in his fancy pants, smiling back.

"Thank you. When I got my magic back, I just cured myself." His grin gets a bit bigger, as a thought occurs to him. "I never showed you my transformation, did I?"

Before she could answer, he began anyway. His tail grew, wrapping around him in its massiveness, before unfurling and shrinking at once to produce a rather small, golden fox, the same blue eyes as usual, sitting on his haunches. And yes-foxes can grin.

Well, he technically WAS invited...

Judas had to admit, he was a bit impressed with the whole scene. He didn't think that Matthew would be able to pull something like this together, especially when he had insisted that he knew nothing of birthday parties or how they are organized. Yet here was a spread that could rival a party thrown by a lower noble. While he normally didn't attend such things, he decided not to dissappoint Matthew and at least show up for a moment to acknowledge his work for the guest of honour.

Of course, it was that precise person that made Judas strap his swords to his belt, just in case. He didn't want to end up as an entree. How good was a dragon's memory anyway?

Judas had best hope not too good-Matthew could always keep Honlon (or rather, Kanan) under control. Relatively, at least.

Upon seeing his teacher, Matthew ran on up in excitement. "Mister Judas! I'm glad you're here!"

At the familiar voice, Judas turned and spotted Matthew running up to him. He turned to the boy and replied, "You invited me here, so it would be rude not to show up." he said calmly. He had to admit, the birthday party was vaguely familiar to the parties that Hugo would sometimes throw back home. While Judas didn't particularly enjoy those parties, he did know how to be polite at them.

Snapping his fingers, one of the little green men trundles on up, carrying drinks as usual.
"Oh, I know. But you're pretty rude sometimes, so I didn't know if you would in the end." Matthew chuckled out that remark, before getting his hands on some orange juice. He loves that stuff so much.

And soon enough, Kneesocks shows up at the party. She's a bit surprised at the randomness of the food and music, but if it was Matthew that set it up...well, she shouldn't have expected different, really.

Her first action is to find herself a glass of champagne before bothering to look around to see who was there. It would be against the rules to not make herself known to Matthew or the dragon he mentioned.

And it wouldn't take long for Matthew to make his way over-he's currently wearing a rather fox theme little black suit, including a pointed up collar to simulate ears and fur lined chest.

He is also wearing his ring, so Kneesocks does not get the benefit of being magically turned towards liking Matthew.

What she does get is a happy ten year old greeting her. "Miss Kneesocks! I'm so glad you could make it."

Kneesocks raises a brow at his clothes, hand on her hip as she looks down at him while the other buisied itself with raising the glass she was holding to her lips.

It's only after she lowers the glass again that she speaks.

"It would be against the rrrules to not attend after accepting the invitation."

Matthew has to look up a long way, being so tiny, but he seems pretty happy just to be in her presence, even if it will cause a pain in his neck.
"That doesn't mean I can't be glad to see you, right?"
