[she barely looks up from her paragraph, one fingertip pressed against the fragile page lightly to hold her place--]

There's no rest for the wicked, Harry.

[--before, smiling, she goes back to scanning]

Personally I thought it was a rather nice touch - bit of home, what's-the-point-in-magic-if-it-can't-accidentally-harm-you-in-some-grievous-way and all that. Remus did quite good work on it.

When you put it like that, I feel an odd sort of kinship with that bloody tree. Though I haven't almost taken out someone's eye [she flips a page, and after a quick look, another] - yet.

[with a short sigh, she closes the book with her hand still inside, keeping her place. She's wearing her habitual expression when she looks up properly - an easy smile.]

Talented little git, that Remus Lupin. Never know it with all that demure tranquility he puts out, then suddenly he's gone and scored highest in the class in Defense and you never even saw it coming. Certainly didn't make that mistake twice.

[ Remus had done a few touch ups, and then got bored, and tried to make a talking Fat Lady portrait. It hadn't gone as well as he'd hoped, and while she would ask for a password, she wouldn't give it, and then just spat sand at you until you stumbled off.

Oh well.

Meandering over to Lily he flopped down next to her, making a rather uncomfortable face. ]

I have sand where no sand should be. On the plus side, I don't have to cover myself in ten layers of sunscreen, so I suppose I shouldn't complain.

[she coughs and brushes all the sand he's just disturbed into the air off her legs and book]

You really shouldn't - if this was proper sunlight, how do you think I'd fair in it? At least I'd match my hair all over, I suppose. The Fat Lady get you again?

(Sirius had spent the last couple of days wandering around the ship, looking for any items that might resemble any of the products from Zonko's. It was a bit unsettling to know that there wasn't a joke shop on this ship. All the more reason why he had to find some supplies. At least it took his mind off the whole world blowing up thing.

And it's while he's on one of his hunts, lost in his thoughts of where he should go next, that he unknowingly gets a little too close to a temperamental sand Willow and gets a nice good whack to the face.)

Ow! (He spits out a bit of sand, his wand drawn and ready as he looks for the culprit.) Oy! What do you think you're--(And then he sees the tree, then the castle, and then he grins. To the tree:) Missed me that much, did you?

[Well this is extremely entertaining; her book shuts with a sharp snap and she's got to raise her voice a bit to be heard]

Muscle memory. Here it knows it was so glad to finally be rid of your rotten face and you have to go and show up again.

(Sirius looks over when he hears the familiar voice and casually stands, brushing himself off.)

More like a deep longing to touch my beautiful face again. After a year without it, no wonder it's feeling neglected! That was just its way of saying it missed me. A love tap! You should feel its hugs. They're bone crushing.

That can still be arranged, you know.

[she raises an eyebrow and tucks her wand behind her ear with a meaningful gesture.]

Out having a walk? What sort of mayhem have you wrought today?

[M'gann likes the beach! she didn't get the chance to really visit different places while she was on Earth, but the beach was one of those few, and she'd enjoyed the experience pretty well. it's a wonder she hasn't gone to check out this one at the dolphin pool before... but right now, she needs some major cheering up to get her mind off things-what better timing than to go now?

...and when she arrives, she can't help but just stand and stare at the impressive work of art before her eyes. is something like this even possible? she doesn't even notice the familiar face beside the castle, much too distracted by the sheer awesomeness.]

[It might be the Gryffindor in her, but it is so nice to be appreciated. She shuts the book over her arm, holding her place, and calls out with a smile]

You can go have a walk through it, if you'd like. It ought to be fairly stable.

Half of it - it's our job we took up this month, Remus and I. Bits here and there are still rather temperamental, but considering what its modeled after, that seems appropriate.
