It had been faint at first, Ling almost hadn't noticed Ed's chi at all since he was clear on the other side of the ship. That, and Greed had been in control, chatting up some skanky alien chick at the Devil's Nest for the seven billionth time that night. Ling generally tried to tune that out, and so he hadn't really been paying attention.

When he had felt it, he snatched control of the body back and jumped right over the bar, leaving the skanky alien chick baffled and probably offended. Ling bolted out of the bar and into the nearest air duct, tracking Ed's chi down to the hangar. Upon arrival, he kicked the vent open and dropped to the floor. Ooooh, he was going to hit Ed so hard. OOooooooh he was going to kick him right in the penis. That little shit head, how dare he run off and make Mieu sad and make Ling and everyone worry, he was in so much trouble. Ling was going to throttle him.

"Edward! You moron!"

...At least, Ling was going to throttle him, until he finally saw him. All that pent up frustration vanished in a second and

Ed hadn't been expecting that. One moment he'd been alone, and the next Ling was there hugging him much too tight for comfort.

"Gahhh!"

Ling though, that was an improvement on his situation a moment ago. Ling could tell him where Al was. Ling... was not wearing what he'd been wearing when Ed had transmute himself into the Gate.

"Ling... what's going on?"

Something was... off. He couldn't quite tell what it was, but it was there at the edge of his mind. He could almost drag it up, but then the pounding in his head would start again.

Ling stopped crushing Ed, holding him by the shoulders at arm's length. Right, sometimes people came back with no memories of being on board before.

"You don't remember? This... you're on the Thor, Ed. The space ship?"

Speaking of shoulders, something felt very off about Ed's right arm. It was quite a bit softer than Ling remembered.

"Ed, your arm! How did you..?"

Shit, just how much had happened while Ed was gone?

Ling hadn't been kidding when he'd said it was going to be a bumpy ride. With his shoulder in its current state, Ed was only able to hold on with his left arm, which was sore enough on its own. Somehow he was managing to not slip off and land on his ass in the middle of the corridor.

But just barely.

"You really don't have to go so fast," Ed muttered. "I've been worse."

"You come back in this condition, and you expect me to take my time?"

Ling did slow down, though. A little bit. At least the trip would be smoother for Ed, even if Ling did want to get him to the clinic as fast as possible.

A short distance away, Dr. Kiriko had just finished his usual volunteer rounds at the Refugee Clinic - these days, he found himself spending less and less time there. Human volunteer or not, there was little demand for a back-alley Doctor.

...But just as he had almost completely turned his back on the Clinic entrance did he catch, from the corner of his only good eye, a man rushing towards him. A human, it seemed. And suddenly, he was needed again. The Doctor turned back around.

At this distance, he could barely notice the injured man on the other's back, let alone identify the pair. Even without knowing, he was running full speed towards them.

"...I'm a Doctor! What happened?!"

[Upon hearing about his arrival, Yuui had made his way to the clinic. He'd heard through the grapevine that's where he'd ended up. So, a visit was in order. Yuui knocks on the door lightly.]

Edward?

[Ed looks up at the knock, and for a moment looks slightly guilty. But then he grins a little and lifts his left hand in a wave. He's sitting up in bed with a few pillows stuffed behind him. His Guide is in his lap as he's been browsing the posts from the week he's been gone.]
