Looking at a different version of the future...

So... a friend of mine (the only one to respond to my last post, and therefore possibly the only one that will see THIS post) has offered me an alternative to Seattle-Tacoma for my post-graduation life: Hawaii.

I have a great deal of difficulty picturing myself living in a tropical climate. That being said, I'm considering it. Both places have their pros and cons.

Seattle-Tacoma:

Pros:
Half of my coven lives there
Coffee haven of the US
Lots of tech jobs
Fresh fish
Mountains
Cool climate
Within the continental US

Cons:
Semi-constant rain
Harsh winters
Most of my friends who live in Seattle never talk to me anymore
Way far away from my entire family

Honolulu, Hawaii

Pros:
My best friend from high school lives there
Warm and sunny pretty much year-round
Fresh fish
Mountains
Volcanoes
Reasonable job market
Beautiful, warm beaches
They have coffee in Hawaii too

Cons:
Tropical - means hot and humid sometimes (well, most of the time)
Tropical ISLAND - means everybody wants to be there, so I expect competition for housing and jobs to be stiff
Outside the continental US, and expensive to travel to... probably won't be getting many visits from family
Cost of living is kinda high
I pretty much would only know one person... which could be a pro OR a con, depending on how you look at it.

Anybody have any thoughts to add?
