Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom!

EEEEEEE! Okay, so we all have childhood memories and such, right? Some of mine include going to Blockbuster after school on Fridays back when I was in elementary school and renting VIDEOGAMES. Which...I haven't done in years. But anyway, I loved that so much. We'd go rent stuff and I'd ALWAYS get a videogame and a movie (or two videogames) and then we'd roll on over to Taco Maker (which I still love more than Taco Bell but there's, like, one Taco Maker around here that I know of and it's an hour away) and get some tacos and stuff and eat them at the store and then we'd go home and we'd watch a movie and then all day that Saturday I'd play and play and play while my dad mowed the lawn or something.

ANYWAY, one of the videogames I used to rent was called Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom. It was one of those...text adventurish type games where it's like "You see a flower!" and you have to choose "Take" or "Drink" or "Talk." I was incredibly in love with that game but then they got rid of it or something and I never saw it again. It took me years to even remember the name of it and the only memory I had was of the intro graphic and song.

But now it's out on the VIRTUAL CONSOLE for 500 Wii points and I just happened to have 600 Wii points left over from other stuff and so I got it. I GOT IT. It kind of represents the spirit of why I wanted a Wii so badly. Just the whole idea of being able to re-get old games that you can pretty much only get through eBay or downloading emulators now. I'm still waiting for Earthbound, actually.

Well, I'm just super excited to be Sir Cucumber once again.

My Virtual Console Wish List:
Punch-Out!! (NES)
Adventures of Lolo (NES)
Mega Man (NES) but...I'm pretty bad at these
Street Fighter II: The New Challengers (SNES)
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (Sega)
ClayFighter (Sega Genesis)
Samurai Shodown 2 (Neo Geo)
The King of Fighters '94 (Neo Geo)

A lot of these are games I used to rent a lot, just like PTitSK. Nostalgia makes me lose money. And I want them to release Illusion of Gaia on Virtual Console too. That thing was my baby right before Final Fantasy VI took its title.

videogames, family, 80s & 90s nostalgia
