Knitting Setbacks: Nothing to Movie Dance About

Sep 11, 2009 10:05

MAN. I reaaally wanted to try to finish this pair of socks by tomorrow but I don't know if that's going to happen anymore. I made some weird mistake when I was turning the heel and I had to undo the thing until about halfway through the heel and redo it all over again, so now I'm back at the beginning of turning the heel.

In short, there was a setback! Okay, fine, this only sets me back like an hour or something (okay, I don't really know for sure) but you know! I still feel kind of productive, thinking that I'm getting all these promised socks done. Once I've finished them all, I can go ahead and make whatever socks I feel like making. Or, you know, give my fingers a break (I think I'm developing a callus on the tip of my right hand index finger, probably cause that's where the needles stab me the most). I should probably do that, actually. I've sort of been neglecting my Sims in favor of knitting and I miss them.

Fame is coming out soon! I thought it might be this weekend but, apparently, it's in 2 weeks? My cousin's dying to watch it and I want to see it too, so I guess those will be part of my plans for that weekend. I admit it: I have a bit of a soft spot for these dancing movies about dancing. Well, some of them. I've never really felt like watching Dirty Dancing and I didn't like Step Up at all. I DID love Take The Lead (maybe because of Antonio Banderas and Dante Basco aka Rufio/Zuko?) and I liked Center Stage quite a bit (maybe because of Ilia Kulik? And also, it was ballet and I love ballet for some reason). Okay, so I guess I like 2? Maybe I was wrong.

But I do sure love Take The Lead. I want the DVD now. It's one of those movies I could watch a million times and never get bored, sort of like Adventures in Babysitting and Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead. And Mannequin 2: On the Move. Speaking of which, I never saw the first Mannequin movie, which is sad because I do like Andrew McCarthy a lot. And you know what's even weirder? You know Hollywood from the Mannequin movies? The guy who plays him plays Mr. Wright in Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide. That is CRAZY. He looks SO DIFFERENT. That's like...if you found out Ben Stein (okay, Mr. Wright isn't really like Ben Stein but he's seems all straight-laced like that) played a flamboyantly gay guy in some '80s movie. It just really puts the world in perspective for me or something.

Other Movies I Could Watch 100 Times And Never Get Sick Of:
1. Any Back to the Future movie
2. Nearly any John Hughes movie
3. Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure
4. Gremlins 2 (I don't know either, don't ask me)
5. The Goonies
6. Napoleon Dynamite

Maybe it's funny that I didn't put my most favorite movies in this list but that's because I try not to overwatch them to keep them "fresh"~ or something. I usually only watch The Neverending Story, Return to Oz, and The Princess Bride around Christmastime.
