So, we got the sod all laid. Lotta work, that, but it looks pretty OK. Of course, this time of year the grass is mostly dormant, so we really won't know how it is until spring. We could have used another half-pallet, and really could have MADE use of a full one, but... there's no way we could have put it down. If we decide we need more, we'll get more later. Although it did sorta suck to be working in a light rain all day, it was great for the sod.
I'm glad I was so busy with that... kept me from moping too much about Sprite. Man it was hard, feeding the birds that morning and realizing... I'll never feed her again. Sucks.
In happier pet news... I got an incredibly great deal on a new-to-me 75 gallon aquarium, from a local shop (
River City Aquatics) that was voluntarily downsizing. After a couple of hours running around doing errands, we embarked on draining the old tank (storing about 50 gallons of it), and netting the fishies out. They wound up in my old 10 gallon aquarium, while we finished the draining and de-gravelling, then installed the new aquarium.
I've got a problem with some kind of fungus, that forms in little white blobs, occasionally threads... and the really weird part about it is how it moves. Not fast enough to see, but ... the lumps DEFINITELY move around. I net them out, or vacuum them out, but still... we took this opportunity to put in all fresh gravel, to help cut back on the stuff a bit. I know it'll still be there, carried in by the water, and on the plants, but... it should help cut it back a little. It never gets on the fish, fortunately.
Anyway, the new aquarium is really pretty, not scratched up like the old one, has no chips like the old one, and most importantly still has the center brace intact! I'll put the fishes back in tonight, after the filters have run for a couple hours more, and hopefully everybody will be happy.
In completely unrelated news... I'd like to pimp a really good comic that doesn't have nearly the readership it should.
djinni draws
Ekwara - a really imaginative comic, with a great and intriguing plot, and quite good art. Definitely on my recomended list.
