After a long day at work, Lavender looked forwards to nothing more than sitting down with a nice cup of tea and getting her shoes off. She toed off her shoes and pulled the kettle from the heat, setting it on the trivet after she poured the water into the teapot. Her favourite teacup sat on the side and Lavender went to get the milk. Sniffing it, it was off and she pulled a face, pouring it down the sink.
Resigned to drinking her tea black, Lavender set about making it, taking her time to make it properly with the tealeaves. Blowing gently on it, Lavender took a small sip. She went through to the living room, settling herself on the sofa; Molly came and sat on the sofa beside her.
She had nearly finished her drink by the time she heard Ron arriving, looking down into her cup at the small amount of liquid left in it. She smiled to herself and moved the cup to her left hand, swirling the contents three times. It was a bit silly, she thought, but she hadn’t read tea leaves in a long time. The ritual was the same as ever, though, as she turned the cup upside down on the saucer to drain the liquid.
That looked like a ball, she thought, looking at the tea leaves. She felt complete, so it seemed appropriate. There was a star, too, and a rose. Lavender smiled again, all the signs she could make out very positive. She glanced up to see Ron in the doorway, Trevor at his feet. Yes, there were a lot of reasons to be positive.
