Swirling the tempid tea in her mug with a resigned sigh, Ginny glanced up at the darkened glass door across the reception room from where she leaned against the counter. 'Three bloody a.m.' she thought, drinking down the rest of the disgustingly cold tea with a grimace. 'Two sober potions and a bloody splinter. A splinter! What I wouldn't give for a good cursing or even a broken bloody toe.'
Two orderlies whose names she couldn't remember for the life of her wandered through the waiting room gossiping and Ginny pushed off of the counter with another sigh. She'd been overdue to take an on-call shift so when Healer Asklepion, her mentor, came up on the roster, he'd been positively jovial to hand it off to her, citing the opportunity to study. A glance at the stack of books on the staff room lounge table brought another resigned sigh as she refilled her tea cup and flopped into a chair.
"Another six hours. Maybe I'll get lucky and someone will come in with the Black Plague or a nice, juicy compound fracture," she muttered, flipping open the text labeled 'Treaties on Warfare - Cripplng Curses of the 12th Century'.
