Rabastan snuggled his companion a little tighter against his side and softly kissed her temple as she began to stir. He had whisked her away last night for a candlelight meal on the rooftop terrace of this old Moroccan palace and they had the place completely to themselves except for a pair of house elves for the entire weekend. His old friends had been more than willing to accept Rabastan's offer of a trade for the weekend, his home in Thebes in return for where he was with Cissy in the Medina of Marrakesh.
The weather was perfect, the bed far too comfortable, and the company amazing. It was impossible to get too much of this woman and Rabastan marveled again at his great good fortune that she found the courage to risk her heart on him. In return, he wanted to continue showing her those places he had lived and studied as a young man, those places where he used to wonder what she was doing right then and if she ever thought about him too. That, and he thought she would adore the magical souks, the garden, and the evening entertainment.
Rabastan had thought that Narcissa was about ready to wake but her breath remained steady against his chest so he closed his eyes and surrendered to sleep once again himself. If there was ever a time someone deserved a lie-in, it had to be on her birthday. She would wake soon enough. For now, Rabastan was willing to hold her and fall asleep again himself.
