A plume of dark smoke and the scent of something akin to burnt matches announced Julian's disapparation onto the H street loop. He glanced about quickly, although he wasn't expecting an ambush. Old habits and all that rot.
No, what he was expecting was to have an entertaining and informative evening with a new friend.
Julian made his way up to the door of Caradoc Dearborn's residence. The man had been gracious enough to offer him dinner this evening, a comfortable and friendly atmosphere for discussing the issue of photographic animation. Originally, they had planned to do this before Music Club on Thursday. Complications at work - in the form of an aggressively bored fire demon and a dutifully loyal house elf - arose, however, and they had to reschedule for this evening. Julian had barely made it to Club even, attending the last 45 minutes with a slight charcoal scent clinging to him no matter how many scourgifies he used. He thanked the gods that Caradoc was a giving man with an easy sense of humour. As the photographs in question constituted the post-war sum of his recorded history, they had become rather important to him.
And he enjoyed the fact that he was gradually earning a good friend.
