Orla grinned at Padma's enthusiasm. She really had taken to this place rather quick. She bought a simple T-shirt at the store they entered, which proclaimed, "Here's Your Sign," Though she didn't really get it. Where was her sign? She didn't say anything, just bought the shirt and shrunk her robes, stuffing them in her pocket.

"Sounds hectic." Probably moreso than London, but she'd been rather inclined to stay at home there, instead of pub-crawling with her fellow students. "Good thing I've already built up my walking legs. This place is enourmous." She tilted her head back, trying to see the top of the building they'd emerged from, and nearly falling backwards.

"How is that working for you two? Bet Marcus gets underfoot a bit, the big lug." She laughed. "Do you keep him from getting too grouchy?" She remembered their first meeting bemusedly, and how surprised she'd been that her first friend in Stoatshead had been the king of person she previously would have crossed the street to avoid. Well, appearances weren't everything.

"How is Violet taking you two?" She asked, curious. It was an exceptional child that didn't feel threatened by the presence of another woman in her father's life.

"Oh, definitely busy. I'm getting my house remodeled, so I moved into Copper Towers temporarily. Getting ready for that and changes in where I meet folks has been rather tiring, but I'm getting the hang of it." She hesitated, and decided not to mention George. Or their dinner. She obsessed over that quite enough as it was.

"You get used to it. When I first came here when I was sixteen, I was petrified, but now it doesn't really bother me." Padma shrugged, leading her out onto the streets. She saw Orla try to look up at the building and grinned, grabbing her before she could fall. "Wait until we're a good three hundred feet away or so, you might actually see the top then."

"It's working well, and he really doesn't, which surprised me at first. It's really a big enough place for us and three other people though, so we have plenty of space. he has his own workroom down in the cellar, where I can't hear him banging." She smiled, pleased with how things were. She really could not be happier than she was right now with Marcus.

"Oddly well. I didn't think she would, but she already knew her parents weren't going to reconcile." She shrugged, looking a little helpless for explanation. "I don't know why, but she seems to like me."

"Remodeling? What for?" She glanced over at her as she led her out into muggle New York, where the streets were even busier. She steered her to where she knew the good stores would be.

"I mever thought I was cut out for big cities." She remarked. Padma's ease in navigating things was reassuring for Orla.

"How lovely. You two really have settled into a great thing. Its so nice to see." She was happy for her friend. It gave her a sense of hope that she might not be entirely worthless in the relationship arena.

"What's not to like? I bet she sees how much you love Marcus." She gave Padma a quick one armed hug. "Kids can be perceptive about what their parents need. Bet Violet decided you're a good fit, and is stubborn enough to not be budged. Like her daddy." She grinned.

Orla followed Padma down the street, looking in storefronts with interest. When she saw what appeared to be a swing in the store window, she paused, but realizing what kind of store it was, she wetn beet red, and caught back up with an amused Padma. "Well, the front room isn't conducive to my needs, and I thought, if I'm going to really be settled here, I best make things exactly as I want them. You know?"
