Gabrielle seemed to be doing well. Darla had trained her a couple of days now, and was full of positive comments, which was good. It was nice to have three employees to run the shop when the publishing house required more attention. After making sure that they’d be okay for a couple of hours while she was out, Hermione left the shop and went to a meeting in Liverpool.
It was a brief meeting, fortunately, and the manuscript she was given for review actually seemed quite enjoyable upon initial glance. A murder mystery revolving around an Arithmancy expert and matters of intrigue was far more likely to be something she’d read for pleasure than one of the silly romance novels, after all. When she arrived back in Stoatshead Hill, it was near lunchtime, so she decided to go ahead and run a couple of errands before getting food and returning to work.
The new house was her first stop. She made a few notes regarding the room that she was renovating for Roger and then evaluated the kitchen. The floors were now finished and looked amazing. Zach had been a great help in getting those done sooner rather than later. Roger had decided the kitchen was the next area of focus, mostly because he hated the original cabinets and wanted to do something more ‘them’.
As she stood in the kitchen, she considered the way the natural light filtered through the room and thought about possible paint colors. That was something she could certainly do while Roger was working on building things. Once she’d made a few notes on what color of paint samples she wanted to examine more closely for the kitchen, she left and headed to the Apothecary.
If she was going to be painting and doing renovations, she wanted to have a potion or two on-hand in case they were needed. A cleaning charm did wonders, of course, but she preferred a potion for the cases when a charm might not be as feasible. Besides, it had been ages since she’d seen George or Fred, so she thought one of them might be working, and she wanted to evaluate their available potions in case there was something else that might be appropriate for use during the renovations on her new house.
