RP: Steps

Summary: Roger shows Hermione the house he found.

Roger was mainly trying to keep his palms from sweating. Not an easy task, considering, and a lot harder to to when he was holding Hermione's hand. It was actually kind of ridiculous, as there wasn't anything to be nervous about. It wasn't like they'd be moving in together now or anything, at least, not officially.
He was showing her the house he'd found today, and even though it hadn't been explicitly discussed, she knew now that he wanted it for them one day, and there were all sorts of neuroses that that caused. What if it wasn't the right time to even discuss it? What if they got there and she freaked out? Or he freaked out? Hell, she might not even like the house once she'd seen it. Might not even see all the possibilities he could, and then what? Roger wasn't given to neuroses, generally, but damn him if he weren't nervous about this.
He glanced over at Hermione as they headed north along the river and felt the rawest edges of the nerves fade. Whether they were ready for it now or later, he loved her, wanted this with her, so things couldn't be that difficult to figure out. He felt excited about the house itself, and he wanted to show her the things it had and the things he'd done. He wanted to show her the view of the river and the exposed beams on the ceiling. It was harder to be nervous when he focused on that.
"It's not too much further," he said. "I would have just Apparated us, but I sort of fancied the walk." Gripping Hermione's hand a bit tighter, he tugged her closer to his side. It was raining lightly, but not enough to soak, and they walked along the river towards the house.
