Summary: A long overdue apology
Completion: Complete

Parvati woke up with that nagging sense that she'd forgotten something important.  After several weeks of trying to mend fences and move forward in her life, it wasn't surprising, but she thought she had dealt with everything fairly well, considering.   She made a mental list as she stood in the shower.  Work was good, there wasn't anything she had forgotten there, although it wouldn't hurt to get back onto her research a bit more.  She'd managed to mend fences with both her sister and Lavender, so there was nothing to worry about there, though it would probably be a good idea to make contact with both of them over the weekend.  She would be seeing Dean tonight, but there was nothing she had forgotten to get ready for that, either.  Could it be nerves over a date that wasn't exactly a date?  She didn't think so.  Yes, she was nervous, but it felt different than mere jitters.

Nothing more came to her as she got dressed and made toast for breakfast.  Really, she didn't have much of an appetite, but recent experience had taught her that not eating regular meals did more harm than good.  As she ate, the cat twined around her ankles.  Parvati scratched her new friend's ears distractedly.  She hadn't forgotten anything about the cat; she was fed and watered and had apparently come to an understanding with the owl.

She thought about going for a walk today, perhaps dropping by her sister's house, or going to the market.  The day was beautiful, and she felt a need to feel sunshine on her skin.  Maybe she could walk along the river or even explore the countryside south of town

And then it hit her.

Why she'd avoided that area for months.

Because you're a bloody coward.

With a sigh, she walked over to the desk and sat down, putting a quill to parchment.

Dear
Charlie,
Dear Charlie,

I imagine that I am the very last person you expected to hear from today.

This is a criminally overdue apology for my outrageous behavior the last time we met.  It must have been highly confusing, to say the least.

I honestly can't remember what I said to you, but it must have been bad, based upon my recollection of the look on your face.  I am more sorry than you can imagine.

You see, I was in the middle of one of my occasional panic attacks--some of my least favorite souvenirs from the war.  I had been startled, and  suddenly I was not fully aware of where I was and who I was with.  My mind took me back to a particularly bad day.

I know that I ought to have tried to explain long before this, but unfortunately, that night was the beginning of a very bad spell for me personally.  Once I was feeling more like myself, I was ashamed of my behavior, and too much of a coward to face you.

You deserve better treatment from a friend.

I hope that this explanation will allow you to remember me somewhat fondly, and not just as that mad woman who ran screaming from your house for no apparent reason.

Affectionately,
Parvati
