He was about to simply cast a quick incendio to rid himself of the invitation, but hesitated. Other Slytherins. There had to be some about in town, despite the fact he'd only run into Gryffindors and Ravenclaw in general so far. To him the house affiliation meant nothing anymore, but it was the personalities that did. As long as it wasn't him and the old blowhard alone in the town hall, it might be worth it to attend for a short while. Besides, if Sluggie was simply trying to take over and create his own little society of power here in Stoatshead, Vincent was more than happy to be there ( ... )

He should have known. "Come," he called in weary patience.
It was Handy who entered, carrying the post. The elf looked about as enthused to see another parchment as Julian felt on the matter. Rita couldn't help but smile when she received the owl. Old Slytherin's Society? Well. She would hardly call herself old - Slughorn could speak for himself in that respect - but she would always be a Slytherin. And it would be quite enjoyable to see all those in town affiliated with her house, dress up, show how well she was getting on.

Dear Horace,
How pleasing to know that you're keeping the old house traditions alive. I will be pleased to attend on the 19th and contribute. Perhaps some press coverage might even be in order.
I'll see you on the night.
Regards,
Rita Skeeter.

Calling to Strix, Adrian sent the other owl away and penned a reply to his old Head of House.
Prof. Slughorn,
I'd be glad to see old housemates on the 19th, though I must admit that in my long family history of the House, this is the first I've heard of the Society. Also, if you have a free moment before or after the meeting, I can be sure to bring along the notes that you gave me in late March - I've penned my thoughts and theories and would like to discuss them with you, if you've the time, of course.
Best,
Adrian M. Pucey
He sent Strix away with an impatient look from the owl - seems Adrian had been missed over his long weekend away.
