Vincent had been at his flat when the owl came in - Merlin willing, one of the last weeks he'd still be there. He had no idea whom the bird belonged to, but he was more than a little surprised to see Slughorn's scrawl at the bottom of the parchment. Glancing it over, he had to chuckle, both at the fact he would think anyone would likely care much, and the fact he had been invited. But this appeared to be house affiliation only, nothing more.

He was about to simply cast a quick incendio to rid himself of the invitation, but hesitated. Other Slytherins. There had to be some about in town, despite the fact he'd only run into Gryffindors and Ravenclaw in general so far. To him the house affiliation meant nothing anymore, but it was the personalities that did. As long as it wasn't him and the old blowhard alone in the town hall, it might be worth it to attend for a short while. Besides, if Sluggie was simply trying to take over and create his own little society of power here in Stoatshead, Vincent was more than happy to be there ( ... )

It was getting to be a rare thing for Julian Avery - businessman, budding blacksmith, private investigator, mediator and counsellor, husband-to-be, and proud kneazle-owner - to have a moment of free time. Yet greater miracles had happened, and Julian found himself in the forge offices with a moment to relax. There'd been a lull in the barrage of owls from Gilderoy concerning any number of wedding details, and his fire demon was... 'napping'. He savoured the quiet with a steaming cuppa, eyes closed in hopes of relieving the pressure behind them. It was possible he might have succeeded, but he would never know as there came a knock at the door.

He should have known. "Come," he called in weary patience.

It was Handy who entered, carrying the post. The elf looked about as enthused to see another parchment as Julian felt on the matter. The Gods must have taken pity on them both, however, as it turned out this missive wasn't about floral arrangements, catering, name changes, or the varying shades of green. He was so relieved, he ( ... )

Rabastan wasn't sure what he felt about the letter from his former Head of House regarding the Old Slytherins. Horace had brought it up to him once or twice, but as Rabastan had left England the same month he left Hogwarts in his youth, he had never had occasion to attend a meeting. He thought that he might possibly have been at a charity event of some sort sponsored by the association however, and that was something he could definitely support ( ... )

Rita couldn't help but smile when she received the owl. Old Slytherin's Society? Well. She would hardly call herself old - Slughorn could speak for himself in that respect - but she would always be a Slytherin. And it would be quite enjoyable to see all those in town affiliated with her house, dress up, show how well she was getting on.

Merlin, a meeting of Slytherins would have them all parading around like peacocks.

Dear Horace,

How pleasing to know that you're keeping the old house traditions alive. I will be pleased to attend on the 19th and contribute. Perhaps some press coverage might even be in order.

I'll see you on the night.

Regards,

Rita Skeeter.

Adrian had just returned to his flat from a weekend holiday to see his parents west, when an owl he didn't recognize settled itself on his terrace. He set his now-re-enlarged duffle on his bed and opened the door, allowing the bird in. Unfurling the parchment he recognized Prof. Slughorn's signature and curt language.

Calling to Strix, Adrian sent the other owl away and penned a reply to his old Head of House.

Prof. Slughorn,
I'd be glad to see old housemates on the 19th, though I must admit that in my long family history of the House, this is the first I've heard of the Society. Also, if you have a free moment before or after the meeting, I can be sure to bring along the notes that you gave me in late March - I've penned my thoughts and theories and would like to discuss them with you, if you've the time, of course.
Best,
Adrian M. Pucey

He sent Strix away with an impatient look from the owl - seems Adrian had been missed over his long weekend away.
