Wednesdays were different now that Darla worked at Bookworm. Hermione hadn't yet reached the trust level with Darla that she felt with Eleanor, but the woman was great with customers and had a knack for knowing how to find what people were looking for. That was good, of course, because it gave her a bit of freedom to do other projects on Wednesdays now, even if she made sure she didn't have to leave the shop ( ... )

He saw Hermione checking things in the shop, and just watched her a few minutes until he knocked and she noticed him. She looked up, and he grinned as he saw the smile spreading over her face. He looked down at Zuzu, who was bouncing on her little rump as she wagged her tail. Apparently, she was looking forward to seeing Hermione, too. When he looked up, she was at the door, opening it to let him in. Zuzu yipped and ran inside to greet her, too.

"Hey." He leaned down to kiss her immediately, deepening it until Zuzu yipped again. Luckily she was still yipping more than full-out barking. "Someone's happy to see you," he murmured, then grinned cheekily, feeling good. "And, er. So's the puppy."

Zuzu ran into the shop but Hermione didn't have time to scold her before Roger was leaning down to kiss her. Since kissing Roger was much more important than talking to a puppy, she moved her arms around Roger's neck and kissed him back. It had just been yesterday that she'd kissed him, but that was far too long ago, she decided as she parted her lips.

He deepened the kiss, but the bloody puppy wouldn't stop yipping, so he pulled back. "The puppy's going to learn the fine merits of a silencing charm if she keeps interrupting us," she warned, glaring playfully at Zuzu. "No barking when we're kissing, Zuzu."

She leaned down to scratch Zuzu's head before she glanced back at Roger and smiled. "Do we have plans for tonight?"

Hermione threatened Zuzu with a silencing charm; Roger found it amusing, but Zuzu only yipped louder in protest. He lifted his brows in surprise, though, when she looked down and mock-glared and Zuzu shut right up.

"Oi. That never works for me," he said, affronted.

"As for plans, well, not technically. But I had a plan of my own to come and collect you and take you down to my house." He stuck his hands in his pockets. "Zuzu insisted on helping."

"I'm glad the move went well. You'll have to give me the grand tour now that you're all moved in," she said, glancing up at him and blushing slightly when she thought of the trouble they always seemed to get into when they were at his office loft.

"Do you have a lot of projects lined up already? I hope you have room to consider taking on another project, possibly." She smiled sweetly and batted her eyelashes at him before she laughed. "It's for the animal shelter. I met with Mandy before we went to Barcelona, and she and Greg are going to have a meeting with Dean soon about having a second building built to house animals."

She took another bite before she answered his question. "My day was good. Darla is settling in well, and that gives me more time to do other projects during Wednesday now."

He looked up at her, smiling slightly. "I think a tour's definitely in order," he said quietly. While he was proud of the shop and wanted her to see it, he noted her blush and wondered if she was thinking about when he'd snogged her on top of his hand-made desk. He watched her over his wine glass.

"I've a few projects, yeah. But that's the way I like it." He wondered why her smile had turned sweet. And was she batting her eyelashes? He was pretty sure he'd never seen her do that before. She mentioned the animal shelter. "Well, I don't know," he said. "I might be able to convinced. Maybe if you bat your lashes a bit more. It was rather fetching." He laughed. "No, seriously. Just let me know what you'll need for that and when."

She told him about her day and he lifted a brow. "Other projects, eh? I'm glad you've freed up some time with Darla around, but I was thinking that would mean something more along the lines of 'time to eat lunch'."

"You're ridiculous," she muttered, reaching out to swat his arm. "That wasn't at all fetching, Davies. I must have looked like a fool, simpering that way."

She smiled. "I'll find out more once Mandy and Greg meet with Dean, then I'll give you details. Thank you, for taking on the project. We'll discuss price once Dean has the plans in order, of course."

When she noticed his arched brow, she toed off her shoe and deliberately moved her foot along the back of his leg. He was always distracting her, so it was only fair that she attempt to distract him. "I had lunch," she told him. "I just happened to eat while I was working on expense reports. This is really good, Roger."

"Oi, I say it was fetching," he defended as she swatted his arm. "Therefore, it was fetching."

He nodded and took a bite of his chicken as she told him about working out details. He looked up when she mentioned price. "Nah, that's the easy part. I'll just be needing materials costs. Labor's not a problem." He took another bite.

Hermione didn't say much when he mentioned lunch, only shifted in her seat some. When she did speak, it was hard for him to hear because she was running her shoeless foot up his leg. He cleared his throat and shifted, himself. "Ah. What? Uh. Lunch. Yes, good. Glad you liked it."

He shook his head, then glanced at her before he reached out and moved a thumb against the corner of her mouth, taking a moment to drag it along her bottom lip before he pulled back. "You had a bit of sauce there," he said by way of explanation.
