Characters: Blaise, Hermione
Location: the library
Status: Private
Summary: Blaise and Hermione catch up.
Completion: complete

Blaise lay back on the floor and looked up at the ceiling, folding his arms behind his head. He shifted, not quite comfortable, and leant forward once more, cracking his neck and rolling his shoulders once before lying back down.

The ceiling was covered with water stains from the old leaks caused through the damaged roof. Blaise mapped each one as he considered the damage above them and his conversation with Thomas from the day before. Some of the coving on this floor would need repairing too, but it was nothing that a few charms couldn’t put right.

A breeze blew into the room from the windows Blaise had opened earlier, blowing back the picnic blanket he’d laid on the floor. Blaise lifted his head and reached out with his hand to smooth back the fabric.

He wondered what would be the best course of action when it came to decorating. While a painting day like the one Cedric had put on would get the job done Blaise had no intention of doing something that would now seem so unoriginal. He could ask for volunteers, but he also liked the idea of simply asking those he had gotten to know over to help. Have a blitz on the painting during the day and maybe a quiet party for the helpers on the night. Something to thank everyone who’d been involved would definitely be needed. Hermione had been a great help. Invaluable really with all the books she had produced, sourced and the contacts she had put him in touch with. Blaise wanted whatever he did as a thank you to be something that would not alienate her and he knew she wasn’t good with crowds, but it couldn’t alienate anyone else at the same time, it would be a tricky balance to find.

Blaise closed his eyes for a moment and enjoyed the moments rest and solitude.

He felt rather peaceful lying there. The library was silent except for the sound of the win. The sun streaming in through the tall windows warmed the room and took the chill off the breeze. With the weather as mild as it was today there was an almost Mediterranean feeling to the room.

While the building was still somewhat in disarray and there was a severe lack of books at present, there was a definite good feeling to the building. Lying on his back, Blaise could almost imagine he was back in one of the libraries his grandpa had taken him to in Italy. He felt better than he had in a month in that moment.

A small paw tentatively pressed down into Blaise’s abdomen, followed by a second. He opened his eyes and quirked his eyebrow as the kitten climbed up and settled herself on his chest. His lips twitched in a smile, and he closed his eyes again. Hermione wasn’t due for another half hour, and Blaise had cast a charm to warn himself of her or anyone else’s arrival, he could afford the brief indulgence of a short rest.
