When the owl arrived, Kingsley was in the middle of finally casting some cleaning spells on those dishes. As he'd been eating out or bringing food in, he hadn't deemed it a necessary chore until tonight. But he'd gotten acquainted with an elderly woman who ran a local produce stand, and he thought he might try his hand at some cooking, even if it was just a Sunday morning fry-up. He'd ran some errands for her and now had a few eggs, some sausages, a large tomato, and a small jug of milk.

He was shocked to open the parcel and find a letter from Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, along with what appeared to be some books, spelled small enough for the owl to carry, and some....

He grinned from ear to ear.

Some homemade biscuits, from the looks of it.

He felt almost giddy as he rushed to read the owl, and he managed to catch the owl before it had a chance to leave. He fed it a bit of corned beef sandwich while he sat down on his ratty sofa to pen a reply.

Miss Granger and Mister Wea Ron,

How very kind of you to send over some baked goods. I've certainly been missing having a 'sweet bite' after dinner.

I'm pleased to hear that you've thought to send books and make lists, as I must admit I'll probably be rather lost for the first few days. Most of my own 'gardens' have been potted plants, and I need all the roofing instruction I can get, as I mentioned before.

I'm also pleased to hear that the three of you have come to a decision together. I am able to begin working whenever you wish to have me. I don't want to intrude until you've had a chance to get settled, as I said. Perhaps the middle of the coming week would be a good time?

The books should be useful, and I thank you for sending them. The binding on one of the gardening texts is particularly interesting.

Many thanks to both of you, and please tell Harry so, as well.

Kind regards,
Kingsley Shacklebolt

P.S. No need to ever mention those charms again, as far as I'm concerned.

Mister Shacklebolt,

It's a relief to know that the books are helpful. I found them today and was bored couldn't resist doing a little research. In my opinion, research always help when one doesn't know a subject. Of course, I like to learn new things, so that might explain my fondness for that theory.

Regardless, I'm pleased that you find the books useful.

We're as settled as we're going to be for awhile, in all honesty. We'll be doing some work for an indefinite amount of time until we can call this home. Anytime next week is fine, Sir. Do just let us know what day you choose, though, so we'll know when to expect you.

Sincerely,

Hermione Granger Granger

P.S. Of course, Sir?
