It was a gorgeous morning, sunny and cold. Charlie pressed his coffee and absently stroked Oberon with the side of his foot. This was the first day he'd be at home for a while and he was already creating a To Do list in his head of all the things he'd been meaning to get to around the Cider House.
Speaking of which, he thought, grabbing quill and ink, he'd been telling himself all week that he needed to owl Bill. But he'd been coming home so late from work and just flopping into bed that he hadn't got to it yet.

Sorry this note comes so long after we talked at the store opening. I've been working a lot. No, scratch that. I've been working round the clock. But I have some free time this weekend, and was wondering if you may possibly be up for a drink or a bite in town tomorrow? Lunch would be great, if you can do it - maybe the Five Alarm? It's cold and I've been craving their stew.
