On second glance Daphne wasn't certain how happy she was with this house she had chosen. Sure it was in a relatively good state and had not only been cheap; it had been completely free. She probably shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth.

But everything was so dirty!

The people who had owned this house before had either left in a hurry or they just didn't know what soap was. There were dirty dishes in the kitchen with things growing on them and she had found a pile of dirty underwear in the bathroom. Whoever had lived here before definitely hadn't believed in changing underwear very often, she noted with profound disgust.

"EEEEEEEWWWWWW!!!!!!" She nearly threw up on the spot when she lifted the toilet lid and saw the dirty brown water in the bowl. Looked like someone had forgotten to flush.

The house had three bedrooms in it, and Daphne chose the least dirty looking room for her bedroom. It still took some seven or eight Scourgifys before she could get herself to even touch the mattress. The bedroom she had chosen also happened to be the smallest, but she could always move into the bigger bedroom once she got everything back to a standard of at least minimum hygiene For the time being she wasn't even going to unpack her things before she had gotten the dirt under control.

The only really good thing about the house that she could think off was the garden. No grass to mow and no flowerbeds to weed constantly. The whole thing had been paved over, except for a couple of trees casting their cool shadows over the courtyard-like garden. Large flowerpots had been stood here and there along the garden wall and the hedges. It would be a nice place to sit in the summertime and there was almost no work involved in managing it at all.

Daphne wandered back inside the house. Rolling up her sleeves and pulling out her wand she set about cleaning out. She decided that if she made vigorous use of the cleaning spells she knew, then scrubbed everything down with soap and finally applied a few more cleaning spells, the house just might become suitable for human habitation again.

Under all the dirt and grime it might even turn out to be a lovely little house.
